This week, you will interview a leader in a healthcare profession.
1. Choose a leader in the health profession whom you can interview to learn about his/her work.
You may conduct the interview in person, on the phone, or online, but in person is preferred. Detailed personal information may be omitted at the request of the leader you choose; you may use initials or a pseudonym to maintain confidentiality.
2. Prepare and implement interview questions to elicit the following information about the leader you have chosen:
o Their philosophy
o Style, values, and characteristics, including strengths and weaknesses
o Their relationships with their colleagues at all levels
o Supervisors
o Peers
o Subordinates
o Their career path
o Past
o Present
o Future plans
o Organizational information: Describe your leaders healthcare organization in terms of a system review:
o Organizations product, mission, goals, and objectives
o Number of employees and number of beds, if applicable
o Types of accreditation, licensure, or regulatory requirements
o Applicable statistics
3. Using PowerPoint create, present, and upload a five-minute PowerPoint oral presentation.
This should not be a recitation of the entire interview verbatim, but rather a synopsis and summary of what you have learned in the interview and how it can be applied to your leadership endeavor
