The Chosen is a novel about two Jewish young men who experience the coming of age. In the process, they must examine and determine the importance of their spiritual, intellectual and political beliefs, especially in regard to their religion, the Holocaust, Zionism, and World War II. In addition, they must determine the importance of the values instilled through their patriarchal relationships.
