Van\’s marketing through giveaways and contest works well. Van \’s targets sports minded people such as surfing, snow boarding and skate boarding. By Van\’s throwing these Event\’s and having these contest shows they are committed to their brand, that they want to be a part of the people who wear their shoes. They could just write big fat checks to these causes but they do even better. Example, Van\’s paired up with The Surf Rider foundation which helps the water ways. Instead of just a check they made Surf riders 5 custom limit edition shoes each with a different picture of a certain place a Break happen. Van\’s is loyal to the cunsumer and is out there getting the feed back straight from the customer which is alot etter then depending on surveys.
Van\’s uses a tier method, upper tier and mainstream. The upper tier Vans makes certain styles for this group which includes the upper end stores like Colets (sp) in Paris, Barney\’s of New York and Seagal\’s. Then you have the mainstream stores that include Kholes and Mervins has a line made just for them.
